so, I'm sorry

as I always am, for not posting that long. But now I don't really have any excuses anymore, my internet is working perfectly AND I've got loads of music for you.

So, anyway, I thought for not posting for a whole month(or longer, I'm not quite sure), you'll be rewarded with no less than three mixes!! Three! It's a nice selection of what has been sent to me during the last... well, since I last blogged. I've compiled two electro mixes and one for everything else(indie, rock and so on) You might already know some of them, since they've been lying around in my library for quite a while, nevertheless every single one of them is awesome. I wouldn't give them to you, if they weren't, pfsh.

I've only zipped them, because I'm not going to upload 30 songs one by one. I won't get any readers redirected from The Hype Machine, that's still a pity.

A while ago, I've told you, that The Indie Dancefloor should open its musical boundaries and be more receptive for styles other than just indie or electro. Fact, Stereo MC's released their sixth studio album Double Bubble a couple of weeks ago and as you might know, really good British hip hop is rare. For those who might not know them, Stereo Mc's started in 1989 and have since evolved as one of the most important hip hop combo the UK has to offer. Success has still only kicked in after the single Elevate My Mind and followed by their third record Connected. They've since connected non-aggressive hip hop with dance, beats, pop, soul and funk elements and it is possibly to say that wouldn't it have been for them, hip hop artists like The Streets,Dizzee Rascal, Plan B oder Lethal Bizzle wouldn't have stand a chance against the dominant American rap culture. Unfortunately I don't own any former Stereo Mc's albums(yet), so I can't judge the development of Double Bubble, nor can I compare it to its predecessors. Still, as already mentioned, it contains a large dose of hip hop mixed with dance beats, synths, funk, soul and reggae. Get On It especially is a powerful album opener; if you've occasionally monitored their myspace songs like Black Gold or The Here & Now might be familiar. Double Bubble lacks the ultimate kick, the power for me to call it excellent, still for a band that has been around for nearly twenty years, the charm of it doesn't wear off so easily. So, if you're intrigued, hop over to amazon and buy.

In other news, a new Kitsuné protegée is coming towards us. No, not a maison compilation - even though that'd be wicked cool - London's autoKratz are yet to release another EP calledDown and Out in London and Paris compiled of the finest dance and electro songs you can ask for. Word, they're signed on Kitsuné, so it just has to be awesome - which it is. It'll be out in two weeks, August 25th to be precise. Be sure to get your hands on it soon enough!

Whilst waiting for Tiga's sophomore's album(of which I'm not even sure it is even in the progress of being planned) we should pay a little attention to the debut Sexor, because beside remixing Soulwax, LCD Soundsystem, The Gossip or Depeche Mode, he actually writes awesome music. Released in February 2006, Sexor lines in with LCD Soundsystem or Felix da Housecat. It contains most of his known songs You Gonna Want Me, (Far From) Home or even the amazing Talking Heads cover Burning Down The House. As habitual for electroclash, Tiga combined electro beats, synths and indie on Sexor, despite the lame description it is indeed extraodinary, kind of. So please, Tiga, I want some more, get yourself up and record another album!

Alright, the date when Albert's sophomore LP Como Te Llama will be released is creeping nearer and nearer and my opinion about it has not changed. I don't want him him to release that record for exactly the reasons I gave here. But, he's a Stroke, so I give in - can't do anything about it anyway. Como Te Llama is nevertheless different to Yours To Keep. It's not as mellow and pop-ish as his debut, it's got rougher parts and doesn't sound as fluently. It does remind me a bit of Is This It, Albert's nasal voice equals Julian's on The Strokes' first work. Of course, it doesn't have that genuine brilliance that floats around Is This It and the I-don't-care attitude. Albert did put a lot of effort in Como Te Llama, that can be heard quite openly. But something is missing, maybe the red thread throughout the record, that sews the songs together rather than letting each song stand for itself. I'd say, it's alright, I like it because it's Albert's record and I'll buy it for the same reason, but it will never live up to a real Strokes record.

So, after two glorious singles, one EP and one collaboration with the Arctic's singer Alex Turner, the long-awaited Rascals' debut Rascalize is finally out this week. I have to admit, I was curious. After The Age Of Understatement, the similarities between the voices of both singer were quite obvious, but somehow people were expecting a second Whatever People say... . First of all, the likeness of both Kane's and Turner's voices is indeed astonishing, aswell as their music style. The Rascals also orient themselves at rough 60's indie rock rather than 2006's new rave/wave whatever. The outcome is decent, though not comparable to Whatever People say... Still, songs like Bond Girl, Freakbeat Phantom or Out Of Dreams resemble Still Take You Home or From Ritz To The Rubble (well, kind of), but Rascalize is not as harmonious or melodious as the Arctic's debut, nor has it that personal note, that Turner gives his songs. There aren't any Mardy Bum's or When The Sun Goes Down's, but maybe that's what makes it so good and so different, it's that rough, Liverpool indie rock sound.

and the last one for today, Infadels' Universe In Reverse. Since I last talked about their single Free Things For Poor People last month, I did listen quite frequently to them. Hadn't done so for a long time and I must say, I do like them again. After We Are Not the Infadels I had to make a pause, because you can quite easily overdose on their sunny, power pop music. Nevertheless, they're back with a lot of new, sunny, power indie pop songs and I think I've fallen for them again. Especially Free Things For Poor People is awesome, the song title is anyway. I don't know what else to say, so get it @ amazon.

I know, I know, I haven't been posting lately, but I've been stressed with university and that won't change much in the next 3 or 4 weeks. So, be patient, I'll try and find some time, seeing as more and more great albums are being released and it's itching me to review them. Patience, we'll get to that, maybe even later this week. Maybe.

Anyway, I've been learning a lot, because the finals are ahead and due to my laziness for about 3/4 of the semester, I have to do everything now. Nevermind that, I've been to the Southside festival this weekend and it was absolutely awesome, one great band(Digitalism, Foals, Chemical Brothers, T(I)NC), Cribs, etc etc) after another. I'll also talk about the weekend, maybe tomorrow, but we've come home this morning, driving all of the night, there is just not enough strength in my now. So I've uploaded a few songs that made the drive back from the festival less depressing. I feel a bit bad about not writing for two whole weeks, but I've been working a lot and studying a bit and between those two things, there just wasn't anything fancy or cool to write about. Guess I've also been too lazy to look for something fancy or cool. I don't have much time, because an exam is ahead of me this week and I haven't begun learning, which I should start... immediately. So forgive me, if my descriptions remain short.

So Chaingang are from Sydney and apparently named after a Mickey Mouse cartoon. Despite this irritating statement, they do make really cool power pop/power punk music. Especially Get Off My Stage is very straightforward and fast, a fine dance song. Please visit their myspace for further information.

So, New York-based Ionia make fine alternative rock, something that I usually don't post, but since it's all about variety and I really like their songs, why not post them? They just had their first 5-song EP out, which you can get @iTunes. If you want more information on the band, go check on their myspace.

It's always great, when new bands give songs away for free, probably to make it easier for people to get into their music, so it's even greater that Stars And Sons are giving their whole EP away for free. But if you like the fantastic, melodic indie pop, you may aswell donate some money to the band, won't hurt you anyway. I'd say they're a bit like Cajun Dance Party, only without the strong accent, more rock and a bit less harmonic, but that may only be my impression because I worship the Cajuns. I'm just gonna deny myself the comment on their weird mask thingy. Irritated? Interested? Go look them up on their myspace!

Next are a few excellent remixes I want to draw your attention to: Belgian producing duo Aerotronic did well on the Boys Noize, Dada Life and Daft Punk tracks. I never thought I'd put up a P. Diddy track, but La Mode's awesome remix made that one possible. The remixes we get to hear from Mmmathias (Santogold, Mgmt) have been ace so far, so why should this one differ? Xtopher Fiction already sent me one cool remix of a Cazals track last year and here's another cool one, this time Somebody Somewhere. baby, I'm a killer for you

It's all about variety, right? Despite the name I chose for my blog, I do want to post more than just indie - or electro. How about something a bit different for today?

As I've said during my last post, I'll get back to some of the music I've posted there: if my calculation is right, Asian Dub Foundation released their 6th studio record Punkara last month, but unfortunately only in Japan so far. But(!) according to their myspace, Punkara will be available for the rest of the world in September. So, for those who may not have heard of ADF or just knew the name and/or roughly two songs (like me), I'm gonna go ahead and describe the album a bit: Additionally to the reggae beats, punk, drum'n'bass, dub and jungle rhythms, we also got eastern influence, the most distinct presence can be found in No Fun. If there is somebody, who's doing sublime at mixing reggae with other genre and I still feel like listening to it, than it'd be ADF. Usually I don't listen to reggae very much, but since ADF cannot be defined as reggae, as well as any other genre, I could listen to it all day. In addition to that it's a good alternative to indie and electro, if you grow tired from time to time. I can't compare the album to it's predecessors, because I don't own them, but without any further knowledge, I can assure you this record's awesome!

Ok, now I'd usually tell you to buy the record, but that's when it gets a bit difficult. Seeing as the record isn't available outside Japan until September, you can either wait patiently, hope that amazon will have Punkara in stock soon, pay 60$ @cduniverse or 23$ probably plus mailing expenses @cdjapan. Your choice.

You may have already heard of London's Cazals, as they were lucky enough to be featured witha remix of their track To Cut A Long Story Short on Kitsuné's latest Kitsuné Maison Compilation 5. I think I've already posted Poor Innocent Boys sometime last autumn. So, their debut What Of Our Future is out today in the UK and tomorrow the US. What Of Our Future is a decent indie rock album, it features some very nice tracks like Somebody Somewhere or Control OSS-117. I wouldn't call it exceptional, because it's a bit to monotonous for my taste and I miss the 'spark'. So, if you like The Paddingtons or The Holloways, you're right with Cazals. Get What Of Our Future via amazon.

Now something truly amazing: the new Pop Levi record Never Never Love. The sophomore album after The Return To Form Black Magick Party by the weird London artist, former member of Super Numeri and Ladytron. It's scheduled for July, 14th, but I just couldn't wait any longer. If there is one sure thing to say about Pop Levi, that that is no possible way of describing his music. I could try and say, that he's combining various decades of pop music history to something queer, soothing, odd, funky by adding other genres. That joined by his high, quirky voice makes something even more queer, soothing, odd, funky. I've only gotten into his first work this year, which means that The Return To Form Black Magick Party couldn't have it's deserved place on my Top Albums of 07.

I won't even try to describe Never Never Love, because whatever I said, it wouldn't be right anyway. But I can definitely assure, that it's better than TRTFBMP. It somehow contains more pop, more oddness and more life. If you don't know what I mean, never fear. Just listen to these two songs, that I've picked, which you can believe me, was very difficult. I usually don't have any problems with picking the songs, because mostly there are two or three songs, that stick out to me immediately. On Never Never Love then again are so many amazing tracks like Wannamama, Mai's Space, Oh God, Semi Baby, etc etc, that I've almost decided to draw by lot. Just kiddin', chose the ones I liked the most. You can already preorder it via amazon.

For the end of my post, I thought we could do with some decent electro/hip hop in the name of Wax Tailor and their 2005 release Tales of the Forgotten Melodies. I'd like to think of myself as an open-minded, varied music listener with a strong affinity to indie and electro. I just don't listen to certain genres like hip hop or reggae very much, mainly because most of it isn't that good and I'm too lazy to look for really amazing hip hop or reggae or whatever stuff. Anyway, I do like Wax Tailor's Tales of the Forgotten Melodies very much, which is why I mentioned it today, because 'it's all about variety' in this post. Apart from the misc guest appearances, I especially love the rework of Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse's Feeling Good. Not as good as the Muse cover, but still awesome. Listening to Tales of the Forgotten Melodies is like listening to an audiobook, with all the different stories on it. Definitely one of my favourite non-indie, non-electro records.

I'm not writing as much about Swedish Caesar's Strawberry Weed as originally intended. After at least a dozen listens to Strawberry Weed, I remain unimpressed and a little disappointed. I don't exactly know, what I expected, nothing extraordinary, but surely a more than they're offering on Strawberry Weed. The album's not terrible, it's solid indie pop, just not that good as you've expected from the geniuses that wrote Jerk It Out. But (!) I could be mistaken;if you're a Caesars fan, like Swedish indie pop or just want to prove me wrong, go over to 7digital to buy the 2-CD record.

I've denied it , but now it's official: Albert Hammond Jr's sophomore LP Como Te Llama will be released in the mid of June. Alright, that is basically nothing to be sad about, still I don't approve of him doing that record. Why? It means, that Albert probably'll have a tour, TV appearances and all that stuff and the next Strokes record is even farther away. Still, he's a Stroke, so go buy the new single GfC via amazon.

So, the third album Synthetique of French electro trio Prototypes is out today in France. So how is Synthetique? I have to admit, even though it's Prototypes third album, I haven't listened to Mutants Mediatiques or Tout Le Monde Cherche Quelque Chose A Faire, so I've treated it like a debut. I've already posted an awesome remix of Danse Sur La Merde by Dopewerewolf, which you can still find here. My point is, due to the remix, I've had somewhat high expectations of Synthetique, that haven't really been fulfilled. I thought the record was going to sound like Yelle on drugs. Fact is, it doesn't, but seeing as I'm not one of these hobby music critics, who find their satisfaction by slagging off albums, I did find some reason why you still should go buy it: Prototypes did a nice job mixing electro, rock , 60's rythm and indie. It's danceable and especially the english vocals are amusing to listen to and Un Coup De Langue is actually really catchy. It's not Yelle on drugs, but it's a nice multifaceted record and you can order your copy here.

Yes, I've also boarded the hype train on The Ting Tings, that is currently coursing through a lot of blogs and it's damn right this way. After two successfully release singles, the debut We Started Nothing finally dropped today in the UK, tomorrow in the US and in May 30th in Germany. The album is full of surprises and genres(synth, power pop, electroclash, indie, etc etc), the kind of record, that really won't get boring that easy. As already Blood Red Shoes've shown us, one only needs two to create amazing debuts or simply play ass kicking shows. It's refreshing to know, that there are still good bands out, whose hype from the NME hasn't destroyed their reputation or our views on them and their reputation.. you know what I mean.

That's Not My Name, Fruit Machine and Shut Up and Let Me Go are obviously the highlights of the album, but even softer songs like Traffic Light are wonderful to listen to.

I seem to be missing lots of stuff recently, right? And I don't mean the albums that I'm ignoring on purpose(Third, Accelerate, Last Night, St. Jude, The Odd Couple etc), but records I do want to review on, but somehow seem to be a month late. Better late than never. Anyway, Temposhark's The Invisible Line was released on March, 31st and I've only listened to it just recently. I've gotten into them about two years ago, when I found Joy on their myspace. For those, who don't know Temposhark yet: They're a four piece British band doing mostly electro clash. Kinda like The Whip. I think, of all the bands I've compared to The Whip so far, Temposhark have the most similarities with them, only they're more rock, bit both embody the synthesis of rock and electro synth without missing to sound cheesy from time to time. Even though Temposhark hail from London, they sound strangely American.. dunno if I should approve of that. Anyway, on The Invisible Line, they have some guest appearance, for example on Not That Big with Imogen Heap and on Battleships with Sophie Solomon. Cool, eh?

We do have some fine debuts today: Danish Alphabeat's This Is Alphabeat is going to replace The Kooks' Konk as best summer record 2008. A summer record in my opinion is an album you can put on while perhaps lying on the grass in the sun and the music simply enhances your good mood or even gives you the good mood. Alphabeat truly convey this sentiment, because their debut is full of funny, catchy indie pop songs. If you don't know what I'm talking about, just imagine The Zutons, only more indie pop. Speaking of NME, it's truly anticipated writers described them as "The best Scandinavian band since ABBA… ". Wouldn't quite agree to that, but it seems the NME got one thing right: that this one hot indie band, you really shouldn't miss. And if you still don't get it( can happen sometimes, because I express myself rather cumbersomely), simply listen to the two songs below and then go here for purchasing This Is Alphabeat.

Now we got a real genre juggling album: Alan Wilkis' Babies Dream Big. I can't even name most of the influences this record is dealing with: 70's/89's funk, rock, indie, soul, r'n'b and so on. I think if I keep trying to catch it with words, maybe I'll ruin it. Go have a listen yourself and then get it @ cdbaby.

Now something really, really amazing: Wolf Parade's new record At Mount Zoomer. After they're breathtaking debut Apologies To The Queen Mary in 2005, we finally have a successor after three long years. The sophomore record by the Canadian indie rock band will be released in the mid of June, precisely the 16th via Subpop. Right now, I wouldn't say the 9 song collective surpasses it's predecessor, but is nevertheless just as good. But my opinion could change in like a month, if the album grows on me and that is very likely to happen. I should make a mental note to re-review it on June 16th. The sound has still that nostalgic yearning for something, that is somehow beyond us and can probably only be interpreted by the band itself. At Mount Zoomer has that ingenious effect of leaving the listener wondering...the subject on what you're wondering isn't really clear, you're just wondering... Or if you're not into deep thinking: the album has a lot of amazing indie/folk melodies.

Well, hopefully this time I've made my point clear: GO GET IT WHEN IT COMES OUT!

Between working the whole weekend and listening almost non stop to Colourful Life, I still managed to squeeze in some other music for a blog post. As it is this time of the year, when I'm plagued with allergies, my head seems to be filled with water, which is to say: I can't concentrate. Seeing as I haven't compiled a mix in a while, I did one for today.

But first: A brand new Dirty Pretty Things song! For free! Sounds like a drinking song for me, but I could be wrong... Anyway, Hippy's Son is taken from the forthcoming sophomore album which will be called Romance At Short Notice and be out in June.

So the Cajun's record out, too, in the UK and the US, but Germany still has to wait until the end of May, dammit. I've just counted the times I've written about them, then with shock noticed that I've already posted half of the album. Cajun Dance Party could as well be the band I've posted the most songs... no wait, that'd be The Cribs, who'd been on this blog with a little more than twelve songs. Oh dear. Anyway, two posts ago I said something about bands who put almost every song from their singles/EPs with one or two new songs on their debut - well, Cajun Dance Party just did that. As far as I can see, there's only one new song, namely No Joana on The Colourful Life, BUT (!) that is perfectly fine. Not only because it's the Cajuns, but because they announced there will be another album sometime later this years, which will feature only brand new songs! Still Colourful Life is worth the purchase(besides that it's the most melodic and beautiful debut record I've heard in a while), containing the remastered version of the demo songs and that is truly a comfort to our ears, because the demo versions weren't ..erm that nice to listen to. I wanted to post No Joana, a wonderful soft, melodic song, as it is the new song, but after remarking that then I would've posted most of the record, I decided for the really fabulous versions of The Firework and Buttercups. I can't wait for the vinyl version to be out here in Germany and also for the new record, for which we hopefully won't have to wait much longer. I could just not post anymore Cajun Dance Party songs, until the new record is out... but I probably couldn't keep that up. Don't forget to order your copy here and until then:

So, Skew is a multi-instrument artist, making really cool instrumental music. Solid beats, guitar riffs, all I can say: really niace. He had his Stadiums Are Ok EP released digitally for free. So, if you like this song, go over to his website, where you'll find even more songs!

Also, to what I've listened this week: Strip Steve's Skip School EP, like Siriusmo also signed to the German label Boys Noize Records. Decent electro/house from France, what more can you ask for? I think the EP is already out for some time, but if, like me, you haven't heard of Strip Steve before and you really like Pacey's, visit arcade mode and bring some money.

I don't quite remember how I got into Pony Pony Run Run, maybe I have a thing for bands with horse names(Poney Poney, NYPC, Band of Horses, The Ponys, Poni Hoax, Fuckpony, International Pony, etc) or maybe because they make exciting electropop/new rave music, despite the fact that new rave is so 2006. Probably the latter. They remind me a bit of The Whip, only more powerpop. I've snatched Boy/Girl Surrender from discodust and I can only recommend it to you!

Next is a sweet MGMT remix from Mmmathias, who as it seems hasn't been a myspacer for more than a short time. Interesting, I thought everybody has a myspace since... forever. Anyway, his remix is really good and you should check out his other two songs on his space, they're just as good.

Next is a new track by The Chaingang of 1974 aka Kamtin Mohager. You can hear he's a pretty big fan of LCD Soundsystem and The Presets and his music settles right between the two bands. A good place, I'd say. He has a record in the making called Mad Paranoid, which will hopefully be out soon, because I'm really looking forward to it. there are Tokyo Police Club and their long-awaited debut Elephant Shell. Some time ago, I promise to do a review on Elephant Shell. Shame it took me so long, but the main reason for my hesitation was, that the voice of TPC singer David Monks reminds me of some other band that I do like very much, but somehow can't name. Could be Bombay Bicycle Club, I don't know. Stuff like that really freaks me out, but since I don't get any wiser on that subject, I decided to post about them today. Elephant Shell is a truly refreshing indie rock album: It features average 2-3 minute songs without any fuzz(like keyboards, synth etc) only the basic rock instruments:guitar, bass and drums. The album has a total of 28 minutes, which is absolutely acceptable for a good indie rock debut. The single Tessellate is the indisputable highlight of the whole album, amongst my favorites Nursey Academy and Centennial. One could argue that most of the songs sound the same, but that's only a weak argument for lazy listeners. Elephant Shell is already out since April, 22nd and if you haven't got yourself a copy, please do that immediately, because there are only a few debuts which stick to the true indie rock manner. Finally.

I've been talking about it for ages and now it happened: Hadouken's Music For An Accelerated Culture dropped. Today. This fact is even more awesome than the record itself.. no wait, the record is more awesome, pfshh. Surprisingly, there aren't many known songs taken from the previously released Not Here To Please You mix tape. It happens often that bands release 6 -7 song EPs and then put almost every song onto the album among two or three new songs and you ask yourself: why buy the album if you already own most of it? That's not the point here with Hadouken!, there's That Boy That Girl, Get Smashed Gate Crash and Liquid Lives, but the other 8 songs are brand new. I'm astonished find a good amount of singing on Music For An Accelerated Culture and less rap. Also more quiet or 'softer' somgs like What She Did and Driving to Nowhere give the impression of a multifaceted record. All in all, it was so worth the longwait. Go get it from HMV or amazon.

Alright, some time ago I mentioned the Ed Rec Vol. 3 compilation is coming towards us on May, 26th, via Ed Banger Records obviously. As already set, it's track list is flawless: new Justice remix, two Oizo songs, Krazy Baldhead, Uffie, Feadz, Mehdi, DSL and so on. If you wanna impress your friends, parents, teachers or oblivious DJs, go buy it when it comes out and carry it around all the time. I already have two tracks for your listening pleasures, but do buy it in three weeks, because next to the Kitsuné compilations(and The Strokes of course), it's the coolest thing ever!

saturday night facts of life

I know, it's not Saturday Night yet, but I do have to work later, so afternoon will have to suffice.

Finally, on of the reviews I promised: Kraak & Smaak's Plastic People. This one type of album that really grows on you the more you listen to it, at least in my opinion. Since the last time I wrote about them, they've been getting rather more attention,(mainly because Perez Hilton recommended them and described them as "Amy Winehouse meets Moby" and grudgingly I have to admit is true, sort of) which is good, because Plastic People will definitely get a high ranking on my future Top Whatever Number of Albums of 2008. As I do focus on certain genres sometimes - which I'll improve, believe me - it's refreshing to have a record which features a certain amount of genres combined and does indeed sound good. We all know that can go very wrong. Anyway, Plastic People do cover a lot: 70/80's funk in songs such as Bobby & Whitney or Squeeze Me, Reggae and R'N'B vocals in That's My Word or instrumental electro songs such as Cornered or California Roll. It's amazing when listening to a song and then get surprised because it doesn't end as you think it would and that is very rare. Of course, all in all it's an electro record with excursions in other genres. I do hope this is the year of Kraak & Smaak and if not, well, Holland's not that far of a drive from here, if they don't get to play in Germany. You can see I'm very excited about this album and even if you didn't like Bobby & Whitney in my last post, please give it a try. Plastic People was released here in Germany yesterday and the rest of Europe during the past week. If you haven't already, go purchase the record @ Jalapeno Records.

Next Bipolar Badwise from Melbourne make cool synth electro. They were formerly known as industrial based TNB, but changed name and genre in 2006 to make really nice electro. So, Swedish The Sweet Serenades really do make sweet indie pop music and call their music "testosterone pop". I Can Never Die remind me of a softer, Swedish version of Los Campesinos! and as Los Campesinos! are awesome, you can think your part. The Satin Peaches remind me of some bands, whose name I just can't come up with. I know it's also a cool indie pop band... if there were a machine which would take my thoughts and then put it into words or music and find me a perfect match, that'd be so cool. So, here I am again, after "just a week" of non-posting, but believe me I feel very guilty. Between working, going back to university and doing nothing, I've been simply too lazy too post anything. But today, I do have something to talk about.

Alright, first of all, there's a new Cajun Dance Party track called The Hill, The View & The Lights, that has already made the rounds, still it's awesome. Ok, since I am a somewhat big Cajun Dance Party fan, which you can relate to the multitude of CDP tracks I've uploaded, this statement isn't very surprising nor impartial. Consider this: If it'd been a bad track, I wouldn't post it - but then again: Why should Cajun Dance Party write a bad song?

So, let me tell you about Red Light Company: They hail from London - where basically every good indie rock band comes from - and they've just signed to Lavolta Records, an indie label home to other great bands such as Kissy Sell Out or The Dykeenies. I'd describe them as melancholic indie rock, think a more indie Keane with guitars and ten times better or a more less melancholic Stars. I've already posted a Munk track two months ago, but since the remixes are awesome, another one won't hurt. This time Maral Salmassi and Zero Cash, whose track Light Of Love I posted last week. The last time I posted a Last Shadow Puppets track, I totally forgot who they were(meaning Miles Kane from The Rascals and Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys), even though the tough similarity to Arctic Monkeys should have shook me instantly, but nevermind my little moment of musical weakness... As many of you may know, their new record The Age Of Understatement is out today in Europe and in North America on May, 6th via Domino Records. I have to admit, even though I do like their songs, I was a bit disappointed to notice that the Last Shadow Puppets do not differ that much from Arctic Monkeys in style. Nevertheless I'm buying The Age Of Understatement anyway and you should too by clicking this. The mp3 below is taken from an acoustic session in New York earlier this year. Enjoy!

Alright, if you've known indie rock band The Children (I didn't) you may now know Twisted Wheel from Manchester, because part of the former band The Children are now integrated into Twisted Wheel. Their new 7'' She's A Weapon comes out today (!) as a limited edition via Columbia Records. She's A Weapon reminds me a lot of The Horrors' Jack The Ripper, which is a good thing. That ressemblance is probably provoked by the rough demo sound. Nevertheless it's a really cool song. If you want to purchase the 7", you can either visit one of their shows or if you live in the UK check these record stores or simply visit their Columbia page and hope a download link will be up sometime soon.

Sometimes I hate living in Germany. I've just tried again to preorder Hadouken!'s debut on vinyl, but it's not even listed on amazon or Warner yet. Coming to preorder music, Germany is very limited. Being a poor student, I can't afford purchasing it in the U.K. or any other foreign country. Well, guess I just have to be patient.
Same goes for Apocalypso which drops in the UK and Australia in the next few days, but in Germany in a month. A month! I do want to support the artists by buying their records or downloads, but I'm not willing to pay full 40€ for the import, that's just crazy. Anyway, I wanted to post about Apocalypso and no the unfairness of the world:
As I listened to My People in November/December for the first time, I thought Apocalypso would turn out just as raw as the single, in style of Down Down Down from Beams. It's more varied, there are more 'quiet', slower songs like If I Know You, Anywhere or the experimental Aeons. It's different, I think the band tried more stuff than on their previous works. So far, I like Eucalyptus, Talk Like That and Together the most. If you're residing in the UK or Australia and do not have to pay millions for the import(lucky bastards) visit amazon or here for ordering Apocalypso.

Next, The Fratellis just had their new song Mistress Mabel aired on Xfm. I'd say it's typical Fratellis, singing about yet another girl - this time her name's Mabel - though it's a little more rock. Ok though. Sorry for the lack of quality, but I'm not that much of a Fratellis fan to put more effort in finding a better mp3.

Johnny Neon do indeed sound like a British indie/electro/synth band, but they band does actually hail from South Africa. They've done a video for Heart Attack which you can watch clicking this - I'd put it up if I were into putting up videos, but I'm not. They band is using a lot of synthesizers in their songs, which reminds me of Plastic Operator, though Johnny Neon are a bit more indie. Anyway, for any further information visit their myspace.

Going on to Spanish producer Sidechains, who also has new songs. It's mostly electronica and new wave, except for Dr. Funk, which as the name indicates, is also mixed with a litte funk. Intresting outcome. sidechains was also featured on the Droppin' Bombs compilation, which is out since Janouary and for you to purchase via iTunes.

Alright, and last, you may or may not have noticed that the last months have had good and very good releases(Crystal Castles, Cut Copy, Sebastien Tellier, Lightspeed Champion, Whip, Ssion, etc etc) and that I left out other more or less good releases, e.g: the R.E.M., Portishead, Gnarls Barkley and so on. Mainly, because I'm not that interested enough in those records - sounds ignorant I know - but it's the truth. First of all, as you may already know, I'm not that big of a Radiohead fan. I didn't freak out when they oh so surprisingly released In Rainbows, nor am I going to comment the Nude remix contest that is taking almost every blogger's breath away - but (!) since it's a competition and the contestants should be supported, please go here and vote(if you haven't done so already). I listened to the first five remixes and I could say I like the one from Hipster Runoff.

In the meantime, listen to Bobby & Whitney, a cool electro track until about a minute, when a Prince-like voice comes up and the song turn into an 80's funk song, which is basically even cooler. "We're so much better than Bobby & Whitney.."

how 'bout an e compilation? Made one today, because it's Sunday evening and I'm bored. I've been to the Hadouken! show on Wednesday and it was pretty awesome. The venue was small, the people and the band were both wild, crazy and in a very good mood. They've only played for about 50 minutes, though all the important songs along some new ones were in the setlist(Liquid Lives, TBTG, Dance Lesson, Bounce, etc etc). Speaking of new Hadouken! songs, I've got a snippet for you today: it's called Mister Misfortune, it's from the forthcoming debut Music For An Accelerated Culture and it's awesome, different tho'. Seeing as I've been to see Datarock also very recently, it should by honoured aswell, but with a slightly more older song. The rest is basically self-explanatory, new LB's album's alright, same goes for Tocadisco's LP. Found The Sons five minutes ago on insound, was a bit curious...basic brit indie, cool. What'd be a good mix without 19 minutes of odd noises from Raccoo-oo-oon? The Cribs' I'm A Realist 7" is good, besides haven't heard a Cribs aswell as a Das Pop song in a while - sounds all still very nice. Thought some older songs (from the 90's *cough*) would be good, especially coming from Stereo Total and Dj Spooky. I could have put up one of the DVNO remixes, but you can find them basically everywhere on basically every blog...ok ok, exaggerating.

hello internet world, I'm back again from my holiday.

Konk is due in two weeks and I decided to say a few sentences about it. It's definiteley more rocky than Inside/Out, though not much different. I've just listened to the leaked version of The Kooks' sophomore LP Konk. It's not half bad, it's ok, actually. The thought of being one of the first ones to blog about Konk is tempting, very tempting indeed... but I've decided to give Konk a second(or even more...?) listen and then I'll review.. and I don't want the web sheriffs here, pfsh. Atomic Hooligan's Sex Drugs and Blah Blah Blah is decent, cool beats and breaks, mixed with hip hop. NRKOTB are funny, kinda like a Brazilian mix of Hadouken! and Klaxons. New Matthew Dear track is from Asa Breed recordings and can be downloaded for free from Ghostly International. Sébastien Tellier's Sexuality is alright, though. French electro, huh? Same goes for DSL, Ed Banger Crew, so what'd you expect. Trash Fashion's Why Can't We Be Friends EP is finally out and awesome. Get it here. Born Ruffians are a squirky, Candian indie rock band and had their debut Red, Yellow & Blue released recently. Thought I should post a bit o'them. I got the Presets track of the forthcoming Apocalypso from Hyperbole, it's cool, it's dance, but not as raw as My People. WAS's new record Brain Thrust Mastery alright, same goes for Von Bondies' We Are Kamikazes Aiming Straight For Your Heart EP. Ok, Von Bondies EP is better than Brain Thrust Mastery, I got it, I got it, purchase both @ amazon. I couldn't help but post a song, when first heard of NPSH(what the f '?) - Secret Crush EP is not that bad, tho. New Coral single Put The Sun Back is really not that depressing, which makes it kinda listenable for me. Willow Song is the b-side of the 7". Last Shadow Puppets's track I had lying in my iTunes library for a while, but can't really say why I got it and where I got it. Hmm, why is my memory so bad? Can't tell, can't tell...

It's just not fair. Basically every blog residing in the US has nothing else to talk about except SXSW and the amazing bands they've just seen or going to see in an instant. While I'm sitting in cold and rainy Germany and no bands to see right now, everybody else seems to have the time of their lives. Ok, that may be exaggerated, but still, it's frustrating. Enough of my currently miserable, concertless being.
New Young Knives album Super Abundance is decent, I'd go with typical, but good British Indie like The Cribs, The Others, The Rakes or The Futureheads. Dancy tunes for going out, especially Up All Night or Fit 4 U. Haven't listened to previous stuff from The Young Knives, so I can't assess the progress or if there even is one. But I'll definitely go get the older stuff,too. Super Abundance was released this week in the UK and US, but will be out in Germany next week. You can either purchase it via amazon or via the band's official homepage.

Crystal Castles' self-titled LP will finally be out this week, March 18th to be precise. What about this record could encourage you to actually buy it? Mainly, because it is Crystal Castles' LP, but for someone who doesn't know the Canadian duo: It's actually really good, not too much beats or breaks and Crystal Castles is probably the main follow up of some other damn good electro/dance duos such as Digitalism, The Presets(besides: waiting for Apocalypso to be released dun dun dun), SMD, etc etc. Basically it has the cool beats and keyboard sounds from Justice with the weird voices from SMD. I think, I'm gonna buy the vinyl record, even though I do not have very much money at the moment. You can preorder the album via amazon by clicking this.

It has basically everything to offer: weird voices, indie voices, dance beats, rock guitars, synth keyboards, etc etc. Think Hadouken! without the hip hop vocals, instead for half of the record weird synthesized robot voices à la Boys Noize for songs like Weird Science or Doomed Now. The other half of the songs is more into the indie/britpop direction, still electro, think The Whip, The Teenagers or The Black Ghosts with songs such as Dawn Of The Dead or Being Bad Feels Pretty Good. All in all it's pretty crazy and won't get boring that fast. My favourites so far are We Are Rockstars, Doomed Now, Let's Make Out and Weird Science. The album comes out on April, 11th and you can get it on amazon.

I've been exceptionally boring and lazy this week, which is to say: I don't really have anything new or exciting to talk about today. Well, except for these two songs:

I know, it's only been a week, but since I don't have any excuses for my laziness anymore, I feel guilty. Which means, this is going to be a ridiculously long post with lots of music. I don't have much time, so a few sentences about each albums/songs/whatever should be doing it.
Here we go:

New Goldfrapp album Seventh Tree - old news, I know. Still, it is awesome. It's nothing like Supernature, it's more dreamy, perfectly underlined with Alison's beautiful voice. There are less beats, bass and no Oh la las, but sweet melodies. Kinda like dreaming of a summer's day in a park. Shitty imagery, but hey- it fits. Alright, new ¡Forward, Russia! Life Processes - out on April 14th. It's, well, different. It slighty lost the raw, tough sound, which was present on Give Me A Wall. I guess, that the thing about second albums. While most(here's my personal view, so no offence) debuts still have the sweat and exhaustion of years and years of playing in dirty, smelly garages or cellars clinging to the record, the second albums get stuffed with all the things the band couldn't afford previously. So, there aren't any orchestras on Life Processes, still it seems more mature, less rough, still very good indeed. Probably because it still sounds like smelly cellar. Check it out for yourself:

Next: The Whigs, a decent rock band from Athens, Georgia You've probably already heard about them, because they're ALL over the bloigs at the moment. Their sophomore album Mission Control is available for quite a while(January to be precise), but I hadn't had decent rock albums for a while here on my blog -at least I don't remember I do- so it's worth a shot. You'll probably like The Whigs if you're into Nada Surf or Dinosaur Jr, you know, true rock music without any fuss(think keyboards, synths, etc).

I actually wanted to talk about Guillemots' new record Red, which wouldn't have been a nice review, because it's ..erm awful. Thankfully, the leaked version is a fake, which lets us all hope for a better version of Red to be released in a few weeks. Anyway, so I decided to write a few words about Nick Cave's Dig Lazarus Dig, which is is pretty much amazing. But then it's Nick Cave (and The Bad Seeds, I know, I know), so what'd you expect? Right.

Next on my list are Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin and their new album Pershing. The release date is set for April, the 8th in the UK and US and here in Germany on May, 13th. The sound is typically SSLYBY, relaxing, refreshing. Perfect for a car ride or laying on your bed on Sunday afternoon, which is basically what I'm gonna tomorrow afternoon. Sunday afternoon, nothing to do, why not listen to Pershing, if it makes me feel good and relaxed? Yep, no downsides. Everybody's going crazy over the Juno soundtrack and it's unexpected success, which features a Moldy Peaches track aswell as some of Kimya Dawson's. Point is, Kimya Dawson along Adam Green were part of the popular anti-folk band The Moldy Peaches, which I assume, is common knowledge. Now with Adam Green's fifth studio record Sixes And Sevens out soon, hopes are high, The Moldy Peaches will be regrouping soon enough. Honestly, I cannot be bothered to care very much. Sure, that'd be more than super cool, if they do get together again, record an album, go touring an' stuff, but I also like Adam Green as a solo artist with his queer songs about female 'celebrities' or other cranky stories. I missed seeing him live on a festival in 2006 and I do regret that bitterly now. Anyway, Sixes And Sevens is a true Adam Green record, with various twists and turns in the songs, although it appears to be more mature. Comments about Jessica Simpson or any other singer/actress are missing(or am I missing them? fair enough), but we got great folk tunes along with violins, tropical flutes, tubas, some gospel singers, a lot of accoustic guitars and a whole bunch of variety. The tracklist contains 20 songs, but no one longer than 3 minutes, which prevents the album from getting boring and lengthy. The songs are smart and short, even though some of them calmer than expected. I always felt, that Adam Green's deep, soft voice gives the listener a certain feeling of security, calms one while listening, even if it's about a pony. I didn't like Jacket Full Of Danger, in my opinion it couldn't quite reach the genius of Gemstones. I would place Sixes And Sevens on #2 of my very subjective list of best Adam Green records. It seems Adam Green may have grown up a little without losing his unique sense of humour in his songs. At this point, my favourites Festival Song, Tropical Island, When Pretty Face and the two below. Sixes And Sevens should be out here in Germany on March, the 7th, in the UK next Monday and in the U.S. on March, 18th. You can preorder it here.

No, not you Joy Division, you sound as lovely as ever.
During the last couple of weeks, where I sat in my appartment, studying ... erm, doing feeble attempts to study for my exams, I went through a heavy Joy Division phase. Surprisingly, listening to Joy Division enhances my willingness to keep on reading the same muck over and over again. Anyway, now I'm back home, no university, no classses, basically, nothing really important to do or learn, I just cannot stop listening to Joy Division. Not, that it's a bad thing. It is interesting to listen to Unknown Pleasures or Closer and then to the later post-Joy Division released Still and to mark certain differences, progresses, fine changes in the singing, the lyrics and the music, the rythms, and so on and so on. Could do that all day long.
Anyway, since I declared myself a music blogger almost a year ago, I should direct your attention to the greatest band ever in rock music history. The Greatest! Ever! (Not including The Beatles, of course) So if you've since skipped the Joy Division tracks in your music library, you should immediately start not doing this anymore, because you won't find a better band than this one. Mark my words.

Alright, moving on. Britain's 2006's next big indie thing, behind Arctic Monkeys of course, have a new record coming up. Yep, I'm talking about The Kooks new album. It's called Konk and is supposed to be in stores on April, 11th. There's also a single, as there usually is, it's called Always Where I Need To Be and will be out on March, 31st. So, I found a radio rip, which I'm presenting you now, although, as the word 'radio rip' already indicates, the quality isn't the best.
The new song is typically Kooks-esque, easy lyrics, dancy tunes, straight-to-the-ear tactic, think Sofa Song or See The World, indie pop. Probably'll be all over the dancefloors next month. So, enjoy it now, because it's fun, fresh and invigorating. You can preorder Konk by clicking this.

i'm back. sort of.

I was never really gone, but had to put off my activities as a blogger due to scholar matters. Anyway, that is over and I'm on vacation again. I'm trying to stick to the promise, I made myself two weeks ago, to post more often as soon as I have time. Well, let's see how that will go.
In other matters, The Whip's debut record X Marks Destination finally has a release date, precisely the 24th of March via Southern Fried Records. The third single Sister Siam is due on March, 17th and you can preorder both here.
So, how is X Marks Destination? Besides the strange album title, it kinda reminds me of Klaxons' Myths of The Near Future, mainly because both bands put out strong, fantastic single, which raised the hopes for a record full of smashing tunes. The reality is now, that X Marks Destination is a good album, consisting of fantastic songs, besides the known Muzzle N°1 or Divebomb. But it is not the fantastic, over the top record, I had hoped for. Maybe my expectations were over the top, but nevermind. Songs like Dubsex, Throw It In The Fire or Sirens are great, Save My Soul is a bit cheesy, but all in all, a very good indie, electronica album.

I hate winter. I'm ill again. It's now the third time in two months, that I've been sick and that is surely three times too much. I'm sorry, but I have to hurry through this very short post, because my head is on the verge of exploding and I don't wanna start crying right here in the library.
Right, Lightspeed Champion's debut Falling Of The Lavender Bridge is due on February, the 5th. I can hardly say, that I longingly awaited this album, because I never really listened much to Test Icicles.
For those who don't already know, Devonte Hynes is now Lightspeed Champion and was formerly member of indie/punk/dance combo Test Icicles, who, unfortunately, split up in 2006.
Anyway, how is Falling Of The Lavender Bridge? It is surely different than I expected. I completely ignored the single Galaxy On The Lost, which was released in November, so I was pretty surprised by the outcome of the record. I expected dance tunes or at least something weird or funky, but it is just so so much better. It is a mixture between country/folk tunes, compiled with wonderful melodies and despite the irritable song titles, fine lyrics. Especially the instrumental use on Falling Of The Lavender Bridge is rather interesting. Songs starting off with acoustic guitars and ending with an orchestra. This is pretty cool for 'just a debut album'

Alright I've been a lazy blogger lately, but I'm trying on improving this. Not tonight, because I've got stuff for my studies to do, boring, unnerving, but necessary stuff, so this'll be a short one. We got another fantastic remix from Fisher Preyes, this time of London's Disco Damage. 4Hero's Morning Child is featured on their new EP, released digitally last week. Besides some cool remixes, Morning Child itself is a cool mix of soul and jazz, think Stars with more R'n'B influences. Purchase the EP via iTunes. Goodtimes Goodtimes from London have a new record called Glue out, kinda like Paolo Nutini, but more folk and better lyrics. Get Glue by clicking this. Then British Sea Power's Do You Like Rock Music? is set to be out next week. It is indeed as wonderful as you'd expect it to be, fine lyrics, great rock tunes. Same goes for Magnetic Fields' Distortion, which is also out next week, so you should get your hands on it. Hot Chip's Made In The Dark has had it's going ons around the blogs, so mine wont miss it. It is as you'd expect the sophomore album of Hot Chip to be. Kinda like The Warning and then again, totally different. It'll be finally out on February 5th and you can preorder it here. Besides, I'm not gonna post a new Hot Chip song, you can find some promo versions via searching The Hype Machine, but the song I picked is from 05's Kitsuné Fur. These New Puritans also release their album Beat Pyramid at the end of January. Beat Pyramid is awesome, funky beats, crazy lyrics and more than danceable tunes. And last, Love Motel from Switzerland, a very cool new electronic band -despite the cheesy name- a bit similar to Hot Chip. Check their myspace for further release and tour dates.

as I've told you in my last post, I decided to do the obligatory Top Albums of 2007 list, as usually every normal blogger does and I have to admit, it wasn't as easy as I thought. Now I've come up with 41 albums which I define as those records, that I've enjoyed the most in 2007. I do not claim, that the list is complete, but after several days of thinking, listening and rearranging, I've had enough. I'll probably rethink some of my choices afterwards, but I don't care about that now.
Because I don't want to post the 41 albums in one single post, I'll just do three lists and the others will be here in the next couple of days.
So, let's get going!

41. The Robocop Kraus - Blunders & Mistakes

The Robocop Kraus are definitely one of my favourite German indie bands and as I've told you often enough, Germany is lacking a good number of decent indie bands, Well we're lucky that God invented the mp3 blog, so I can tell you about The Robocop Kraus, because unfortunately their popularity outside Germany is limited. As I've already told you, Blunders & Mistakes doesn't quite reach up to They Think They Are The Robocop Kraus, which was more funky and had more dance tunes. Anyway, this record justlifts my mood, whenever I listen to it, so it has to be in my Top Albums of 2007.

40. Deerhunter - Cryptograms

I didn't pay this record much attention at the time, when I first heard it. Well, I did so now and then I remembered why I didn't listen to it that much. When Cryptograms was released earlier that year, everybody went crazy about Deerhunter and the album, and I still cannot understand why. Surely the record has it's moments, the tracks are fine and it sometimes resembles The Arcade Fire, but that doesn't make it that great. Or maybe I just got this record wrong. Nevermind.

39. Los Campesinos! - Hold On Now Youngster

Ok, so here is a mistake. Hold On Now Youngster from Los Campesinos! hasn't been released yet, the record will be in stores in February 2008. So, why is it still in my Top albums of 07? Because I've already listened to it this year and had to put it in here. The charming lads from Cardiff just got me with their funny indie pop, so why not be early. I can still put them in my future Top Albums of 08.

38. The National - Boxer

Well, starting with The National's Boxer, there were a lot of albums, that I didn't pay much attention to when they were releases - in this case, half a year ago. But now, after listening to it a couple of times, I cannot figure out, why I didn't put it on here earlier. The record remembered me a bit of earlier Interpol work - ye know, Antics style - but that's purely subjective.

37. Les Savy Fav - Let's Stay Friends

Another of those hyped and most-blogged-about bands from 07 - and there were a lot.
But to get that right, if some band deserves a proper hype for pure, honest rock'n'roll, then it's Les Savy Fav. It's probably one of the most honest albums, that 2007 has brought to us, I think. So, in case you haven't heard of them, which is absolutely impossible, check out their homepage, the song below and then right to amazon (or any other shop) and get Let's Stay Friends!

36. Teenage Bad Girl - Cocotte

Alright, here we got our first French electro/dance contestant. Amongst Mr. Oizo and Justice to name a few, Teenage Bad Girl are one of the best dance exports that the land of the baguette has to offer. Cocotte is full of those perfect electronic tunes, not too much bass or too much beat. Just right. Too bad, I couldn't go to this year's Pantiero Festival in Cannes, would've like to see them live. Pity.

35. Dntel - Dumb Luck

Jimmy Tamborello's fabulous music project called Dntel brought Dumb Luck to us in April. You may know Jimmy Tamborello from The Postal Service, another amazing electronic band. Dntel is also known for putting up several remixes on his homepage, one as good as the other. I think I've put the last one one here, not very long ago. If my memory wouldn't be so bad.... Anyway, Dumb Luck has to be in your record collection, so grab your purse and buy it.

34. The Horrors - Strange House

I don't quite know, what else should be said to London's most stylish indie goth punk band The Horrors and their exciting album Strange House. The lyrics are funny, the sound does even surprise at some parts in the record and they surely have cooler hair than any of you.

33. Bloc Party - A Weekend In The City

Bloc Party's A Weekend In The City was a little more difficult to place. I can't deny, that it is good record, but nevertheless I was disappointed by it and I can't really tell you why. Perhaps, because none of the songs can reach up to the pure freshness of Silent Alarm nor has any of them the quality as Helicopter, Banquet or Pioneers have. I would have loved to put this a little higher in my list, but I just can't.

32. Babyshambles - Shotters Nation

So, you probably ask yourself, why I ranked Shotters Nation higher than A Weekend In the City. On the one hand, Bloc Party are surely a much better and talented indie band than Pete Doherty and his musical entourage, but on the other hand Babyshambles are one of the few bands, who emerged in the class of 2005 with their debut albums - amongst others such as Maximo Park, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Arcade Fire, Art Brut etc - and actually done a better sophomore record in 2007. Well, one could say, that this wasn't very hard, because Down In Albion is... erm, not very good. Nevertheless one has to appreciate that Babyshambles actually got together agian and did a record, that doesn't fall apart with every note and has some very fantastic tunes on it, such as Delivery, Carry On up In The Morning or French Dog Blues. I'm sure, the one Babyshambles record, that will blow us all away, is out there in the making.

31. Yelle - Pop-Up

So, the last one for today is French electro pop princess Yelle and her fantastic album Pop Up. I didn't know, that I was a huge sucker for French lyrics until I've heard Yelle and that comes from a person who had to suffer from numerous French chansons at school, including Edith Piaf. I still don't even understand the half of what Yelle is shouting on Pop-Up - of which I should be ashamed - but that doesn't really make any difference. The record is simply fun to listen to and you can tell your friends, that you listen to French music goodness without sounding cheesy.

To do this list I thought about what my favourite albums of 2006 were and to be honest, I couldn't do a list for 006. It's hard to stay at least a bit objective, when my all time favourite bands released their albums. Which is to say, I have difficulties to spot anything else, because First Impressions Of Earth and Black Holes And Revelations are in the way. Dammit, for being such a huge Muse and Strokes fan.

I'm sorry for the lack of post during the past week, but I was suffering from very severe illness...well, for me it felt like it was very severe, but in reality it was nothing more than a flu. Anyways, since it it this time of the year - no, I won't be putting up endless Christmas songs, phffsh - the 'Top of 2007' lists keep rolling over the blogs, and I thought, I should do my bit. So, right now, I'm listening to some 2007 records and I should be able to do a list in the next couple of days, but now: something else.

So, first we got a fresh 'leak-approved' Architecture In Helsinki remix, done so by New York's Ruby Beats aka Noah Rubin, who has also done several remixes. You can find a very cool one of Blonde Redhead on his myspace and another cool remix on Stereogum. But because it's that time of the year, I decided to upload the original, probably not 'leak approved' version, too. Have fun!

I feel guilty for not having posted during the last week. It's been only six days, but still, I feel so guilty, that this is going to be a ridiculously long post.
Alright, let's start with mail I've been getting, because I actually did promise to do a part 2 post...sometime. Well, this time is now, so let's get going.

Starting off with 4 or 5 Magicians, whose single Forever On The Edge is out now, released via Alcopop Records sister label to Big Scary Monsters (whose blog btw you can find under my links). Ok, next on my list are Friends Of The Stars, a folk band from Birmingham. They've recently released their debut record called Lighting And Electrical. I'd put them between Stars, an If She Wants Me-kinda Belle & Sebastian and The Go-Betweens, as the band told they've often been compared to. Not a bad selection, innit? The Violets consist of four musicians from London, doing some kind of crazy indie punk garage rock. Alright, travelling from the US to Gothenburg, Sweden, where Pet Politics is residing. Actually called Magnus Larsson, Pet Politics's got a new 7" out via the label The Great Supplement. Stylictically, I'd put Pet Politics to the range of Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, which sounds just fine to me. Alright, Simian Mobile Disco released Hustler last week and if there wouldn't have been an oddity that prevented me from accessing the university's internet over the past week, I would've jumped on it right away. Anyway, why should you buy Hustler, if you probably already got the original version(on Attack Decay Sustain Release, which you've hopefully bought legally) and maybe one remix?
Beeeeeecause, first of all, there are several versions of the single, we got the CD single, whioch features a fantastic unreleased SMD b-side called Party Goes On. I could post that one, but then one of the main reasons to buy the single would be gone. So I don't.
Then we got some 12" versions, all of them featuring some good remixes of Hustler, most of all the popular Armand Van Helden remix.
So, if you haven't already, get the single, because you should atleast own one of SMD's 7'' or 12'', right?

As some of you may have noticed - I'm quite sure I mentioned it like a hundred times - two days the ago The Hives played an incredible show in Wiesbaden and yeah, I was there, I was sweating, I was dancing my ass off and I would love to show some pictures, but unfortunately I forgot to take some of The Hives and only took some of the support band, Quit Your Dayjob, who were quite fun. Too bad, my photographic skills concerning concerts are practically non-existing, so the pictures are crap. I'm still gonna post some at the end of the post, but now:

Let's start with their 1997 debut Barely Legal. As some of The Hives records, Barely Legal was released via Burning Hearts. Even though the album got its well-deserved recognition a few years after its release, in my opinion it represents the true heart of The Hives, being raw, rough and some songs are in bad quality, which makes it even better.

Alright, next up is Veni Vidi Vicious, released in 2000. This record now features more 'audience friendly' tracks like Hate To Say I Told You So, Supply And Demand or The AC/DC cover Back In Black, making it 'easier' for the average music listener to get into the record without losing the typical Hives touch. Not that I'd say, hat The Hives have gone mainstream. Not yet anyway.
As already mentioned, classics are HTSITYS, Supply And Demand and State Control.

Well, I could now talk about 2002's Your New Favourite Band, but as far as I'm concerned, this is only a compilation of the two former records and some EPs to get access to the American music market, now that there are The Strokes, The Vines and The White Stripes, seems like a perfect timing to get the US to notice Swedens best export.
Nevertheless, it's a good record with a lot of good stuff.

Alright, next is probably the best record in the whole Hives history. I assume therefore it's also the most popular and best sold one, but that's not the point now. Released in 2004, Tyrannosauros Hives is loud, agressive, but also melodic and diversified. We got 'typical' songs like Two-Timing Touch and Broken Bones or Abra Cadaver, but then we got some which are different: Diabolic Scheme and Little More For Little You. All in all, it's a truly good, through and through Hives record!

and what is left? I wanna go through the live CD/DVD, but if you're a huge Hives Fan, you'd already have that. In addition, I don't care much for Live DVDs. So let's go on with:

Now, we got the newest, most discussed and the one with the most presumptuous title ever: The Black And White Album. Now it get difficult, the opinions on this record are divided: those who like the progress in the work and those who prefer the 'old version'of The Hives. I'm one of the first ones, I like The Black And White Album, I like that it's different, I like that some of the songs don't sound right at the first listens and that Pelle can't sing properly yet. That's all part of The Hives, in my opinion at least. I don't care, if anyone who reads thios and despises the new one, that's your opinion, but I think progress is substantial in a band's life, even though it sometimes doesn't quite turn out like expected.

It's becoming a habit to do posts immediately before I leave for my hometown. Today, I'm going back to my town, where I do my studies or better: Where I live most of the time and from time to time, enter the university for some classes.
Anyways, so I have something to listen to, while I'm sitting on the train, I selected something from The Whip, a bit of CSS's self-titled debut record. The Hives obviously, because the concert's due next Friday, another awesome track of Hadouken!'s recently released Not Here To Please You mixtape and Soulwax's Any Minute Now can do no wrong. Then we got Dartz!, whom I lately took a great interest in, LCD Soundsystem's 2005 self-titled record, which I've dug out again just to listen to it constantly. A bit Teenage Bad Girl, a bit Mr. Oizo, a Presets track, because I'm so excited about the upcoming record and at last: Le Tigre.

Celine Dion is just awful, her music is disturbing and she probably is also a very disturbing person. The world would be so much better of without her. I mean, in the music scene, of course, I don't want her to die, I'm not a hateful person.
But there are so many things, that I hate in this world, like: cyclists, parking tickets, cyclists who take in the whole street while I'm driving a car, people who make a fuss about parking tickets, spiders, daft politicians(uhh), plastic spoons, joghurt that has small pieces of fruit in it and most of all, people who talk very slowly and gesturing pretty wildly.
No thanks, I can perfectly understand you, there's no need to hit my face with your smelly fingers or to imitate a horse galloping, if you're trying to explain the meaning of a race. Not for me, no, no and if you could speed up your language a bit, that'd be excellent, because I don't have time for you to analyse, why the weather is so crappy or your politicians are so daft and incompetent, for I know that pretty well, just tell me the danmn time in three seconds or faster, sir. Thank you, even though I could have said everything you expressed like ten times faster.
These things drive me nuts, even more than the simple being of Celine Dion - oh wait, no, Celine Dion is unbearable.

Let's go on with Fever Marlene who sent me (along their other 'favourite' bloggers - seems like we're the elite?) their newest record Civil War, which the band has produced and released independently. It took a bit to get into the record, because at first it seemed a bit tautoligic and repetitive at some places, but after listening a few times, some tracks do stick out, escpecially Red Fire, my favourite track of the record. Next we got a really cool remix by Fisher Preyes DJs of Maudite Dance's Underground. Fisher Preyes also have their own self-titled blog, which you should check out here. It's surely worth one or more reads.
Then Ponderosa sent me some demo tracks of their forthcoming album, on they claim to be working on in the coming months. They're music is a throwback, lots of accoustic guitars, kinda like The Checks (whom I told you about last week) or a bit similar to The Films - sounding in the range of the 60's. Nothing really new, but they don't claim to do so.
It's cool, so I'm gonna post two songs.
Then we probably got the danciest and craziest song from Operahouse (on the pic above) - I mean danciest indie song, of course. Please have a look at their myspace for tours, upcoming releases, etc.
I'd like to post more songs and discuss more bands today, but, unfortunately, I'm running out of time.

The whole f'ing world probably already had this pleasure, but I lacked this one for the last two years, so bow to me! need to feel special about this.

I don't have time, as usual, because I'm departing for my hometown in like, five minutes and thought about informing you quickly about the new Hadouken! mixtape, of which you probably already have heard, but now you can actually own it, legally, because it's released today!
If you didn't know, the mixtape's called Not Here To Please You, it's NOT the album(which should be due early 2008), along known remixes like the Bloc Party/Plan B remixes or popular tunes like That Boy That Girl/You Can't Be That, it has new songs like Girls or Love, Sweat & Beer, you can purchase it on USB and that right here.

because it's late, because I'm tired, because I've got lot's of stuff to do tomorrow, but I just don't, because I can't.
But contrary to doing long posts to bypass the nasty phase between sleeping and being awake, I just can't be bothered at 1 am in the night.
So, when I'm deprived of sleep, I often listen to The Kinks and even more often to my favourite song (Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman, which was released on 1979's Low Budget, aswell as on 2002's The Ultimate Collection, which you should own, if you don't have any original Kinks records.
So, on exactly 1.25 am, I'm not only listenin' to The Kinks, but also to The Sun, who do cover the former quite passable. The cover was featured on 2006's Sound of Superman, the soundtrack for the Superman Returns movie.

Well, at least at the very moment now, because I finished my class an hour ago and am now sitting in the library with time to upload mp3s.
So, I decided for some indie music, classic, new and 'old' ones, compiling in another indie mix - I should do indie mixes more often... I can't promise that I'll do it, but it's worth a thought.
The Cribs, Albert Hammond Jr, Kings Of Convenience, The Elephants, The Go-Betweens can be considered as 'old', because I think I've (or the rest of blogger world) posted them all sometime ago...but I can't quite remember, except for The Cribs - haven't posted a Cribs track for atleast a month, it's about time - I should start tagging correctly. Well, the tracks are good anyway, otherwise I wouldn't repost the bands7tracks, pfsh.
The Who and The Kinks are classic, obviously. Then we got Museum and The Inconsolables, to whom I got via last.fm, and Elle Milano and The Video Nasties whom I found via myspace, but who've been around in bloggerland for some time.
Then my favourite bit(of the new ones of course, who could beat The Kinks, pffsh) The Checks (on the picture) who have a new record out/or coming out, depends which country you're residing in, called Hunting Whales, which sofar I've heard it, think it's pretty good. I hate Saturday afternoons, because mostly I'm utterly bored, but too tired to do anything 'productive' or/and 'significant', but instead of just sleeping half the day, I'm currently facing sleep deprivation. So, in a manner to entertain myself, I do posts, ridiculously long posts with lots of mp3s, before I go out tonight, starting with an electro/dance mix. Midnight Juggernauts are pretty awesome, aswell as Dystopia and I seriously considering buying it, when it's finally released in Europe. Klaxons and Apparat are self-explanatory, The Glimmers/Princess Superstar track is from Kitsuné's latest goodness BOOMBOX (see pic above), which everyone should own nowawadays. Destroy0r are unsigned and very niiice and the Crystal Castles' track was obligatory, because it's brilliant.

Going on with things I love, for example Soulwax and everything that Soulwax do. Especially their newest baby called Most Of The Remixes, which features, well, most of the remixes that Soulwax have done over the past years. It's a double-disc edition and obligatory for everyone to be purchased. I'm waiting for Digitalism to be remixed by Soulwax - or vice-versa. That'd be interesting. Anyway, if you're collecting remixes by Soulwax and lost track of them during the years, here's your chance to complete your collection. Take it!
I'd have put up the Muse track, regarding them being my all-time favourite band and Soulwax being awesome in almost everything, but unfortunately, I don't like the Muscle Museum remix as much as I adore all the others. Nevermind. The rest is still f'ing good.

I have to admit, I have difficulties to give a stylistic description, which underlines their goodness of being multifarious. Lately, I'm a huge sucker for remixes, half of them are problably from The Black Ghosts remixing or getting remixed another amazing band. Like The Whip:

My earlier restistance against the new Babyshambles record Shotters Nation is crumbling now. I have to admit, the record is good.
I wouldn't have expected it after the desastrous outburst which was Down In Albion two years ago. The songs are catchy, the tunes are fine, you don't get bored after three songs and you can actually hear and understand Pete Doherty, which was almost impossible since The Libertines' self-titled record.
So, because I'm 'late' on this, I assume, that most of you already have the record.
To all the other doubter's, who like me, refused to listen to it until now, I advise to have a look at the two tracks below and then change your mind. It is really so so much better than Down In Albion.

I've finally listened to The Black and White Album, the new Hives record and contrary to others, 'that the new album doesn't live up to expectations, escpecially after Tyrannosaurus Hives', I disagree.
I like The Black and White Album. I like that it is different, stylistic, there are more songs in the range of Little More For Little You and Diabolic Scheme, songs which stood out between the typical songs like Walk, Idiot Walk or now, Tick Tick Boom. I prefer Well Alright, the instrumental A Stroll Through Hive Manor Corridors, T.H.E.H.I.V.E.S. or Giddy Up:

so, here I am again, after a mere week of non-posting, I finally got myself up to post at least something. I'm only doing a short one, because I'm sitting at a desk in my university and it's f'ing freezing, so my fingers hurt while typing. Yes, right now I'm pitiable. But enough of that, because I'm hungry and unfortunately there's nothing edible in front of me, which makes me a bit aggressive.
Nevertheless, I picked some songs for today, Kings Of Leon are classic, atleast Aha Shake Heartbreak and TJG, which is featured on it, are. Then we got Modeselektor, wishing me a late Happy Birthday - they actually did that already last week, but I couldn't upload them - anyway I looove Datarock's Computer Camp Love, amongst all the other tracks from Datarock, which I would probably take to that lonely island along with The Whip's Muzzle NO.1 and hopefully their upcoming album, which shouldn't be too long. Today I'm turning 20

yes it's my birthday today and I'm turning 20, which is quite a weird age to turn into. I mean, I don't feel any better or mature, now that I don't have any longer a 1 before my age, but that was actually the same as I turned 19, which was, surprisingly, one year ago. I hate having birthdays in autumn, because it's rainy, which is depressing, and there should be nothing depressing about what I call a national holiday.
Anyway, I thought about doing a birthday mix with songs that I really, really like(eg The Strokes, The Cribs, The Hives, Muse, The Whip, The Kinks, Shitdisco etc), but, unfortunately, I still don't have internet in my appartement and the connection in my university isn't, erm, stable enough to upload any mp3s.

late sunday evenings

are possibly one of the worst evenings of the entire week, when you find yourself lying in your bed, nothing to do except checking your tv programme for some decent entertainment - but of course you'll be utterly disappointed. Luckily enough that I do not have to worry about getting up early the next day due to school or job attendance, which leads to a pestering feeling of being totally awake, so you can't fall asleep, which leads to being tired the next morning, etc etc. Sunday evenings suck, alright? At least in my opinion. Luckily for me, I do not have to spend my thoughts on those pointed out, because I won't be going back to my appartement tonight. I thought it was an approbriate time to start university the way I'm used to - by skipping lessons on the first week - there are more important things tomorrow than attending class - take the Maximo Park concert for example(of which I'm certian, I bore the hell out of you, but I'm sososooo excited). I'd actually wanted to say, that if you're residing in the vicinity of Wiesbaden, you should consider, why you haven't thought earlier of going to the concert, but, unfortunately, it's sold out. Maybe I'll just see you at The Hives concert on November, 3oth! Don't miss it.

Getting to why I actually am doing this post, Fine Day Records had sent the whole Plastic Operator album to review, which is a premiere on my blog. Nevertheless I'm impressed by the duo consisting Mathieu Gendreau and Peter Van Dessel, who hail from Montreal and Antwerp, but having met in London whilst studying. The album is called Different Places, has been released this day via Fine Day Records and is a very cool piece of electronic pop. The lyrics are euphonic thus sentimental and melancholic, coinciding neatly with the poppy synth melodies. Different Places is a continuous album without any musical lows, every song passes nicely into the next one. So far, my favourites are Folder, Peppermint, Parasols and Another Sound, and you can see, that I've posted the latters. Stylistic I would've put them between The Postal Service and a melancholic, more quiet SMD, even though that's a bit far-fetched, I hope you get what I mean....

The song's also featured on Nic Nell's first single, which will be out via XL Recordings early next year.

haphazard recollections

I've been strolling round my old blog posts, which I do quite frequently, and was staggered by the amount of preposterous rants about the few happenings in my life, which played a substantial part in my blog then. These rants, somehow, have diminished over the summer, which of course was due to a good lack of time and internet, making me nevertheless feel guilty.To add up some facts of my life, which has been very uninteresting. I moved, because I started university last week, which has quite it's advantages, even though I yet have to gain internet aswell as TV, which makes the being of both my njotebook and my television in my appartement appear quite ridiculous. Nevertheless, I enjoy being away from my hometown, where, well, nothing really is happening. Except for the Maximo Park concert this Monday! I slightly remember having told you about my joy concerning this event a week ago, aswell for certain The Hives concert tickets, which made their way to me. I mean, The Hives! This'll be great, even though the concert's taking place at the end of November. So what else, if you haven't noticed, I am very well aware, that Radiohead's In Rainbows has been released digitally a few weeks ago. I know, the hype, mostly focusing on a new LP from Radiohead(oh no, who would've thought so) and the fact, that you can choose for how much you want to purchase the downloads, which is still a cool thing tho'. So let me be clear, Radiohead is probably one of the most amazing bands out there, but I still don't get them. I own three or four Radiohead records, but after having listened to two of them, I lost interest. So, in contrary to numerous blogs, you won't find me fussing about Radiohead, still I advise you to go and buy the downloads.
In addition, a note on Albert Hammond Jr's myspace left me devastated, referring to planning another solo album, which makes the near release of my favourite skinny jeans rock band become very unlikely. I like AHJ's record Yours To Keep, but can't he at least wait till The Strokes break up - which of course I hope will never ever happen - well, you get my point.

Except for this, my life has been very boring, but fortunately, there is Matt from Atomic Hooligan, who'd sent me some very excellent tracks over the past days and because this still IS a music blog, here's a bit about them: Atomic Hooligan are a UK-based breaks duo, who are also known for their remix work, such as for Groove Armada or German DJ Tomcraft. After one week of nearly any internet connection(Swanage all over again), I'm right back at my parents' and now obsessing over having internet for more than just an hour - or when my notebook collapses at the university after a good lack of electricity.
My first week at my university has been quite satisfying, to say it that way. I've managed to change my classes in last minute, arriving without any knowledge about courses, lessons, rooms, whatsoever, but here lies the truth that university has to make everything fail-safe.
Well, as usually, I don't have much time for this, just wanted to let those few regular readers know, that I'm back.
I find myself rather uncreative this evening, so I settled for a small mix with those songs, that have a boy in their song titles. Yeah, even I find my lack of inspiration on this very Friday pretty unnerving, but I'm tired and in a hurry. I'll take more time for my blog the next day. I've received some very excellent music via email and looking forward to drawing my attention to it tomorrow or on Sundays.
I actually would've posted Dirty Pretty Things' Last Of The Small Town Playboys, but I've already posted this two months ago.

Whilst in the mid of last minute packing, I find some time to do some sort of good-bye sweet home post. I'm moving in like, half an hour and thought that I could do aswell another mix.
It's kinda weird, after having lived for the past 19 years in only one single place(Swanage doesn't count for me) now to finally move away. But it should be interesting.
For the past week, my blog has been quite electronica and dance dominated, well not yesterday's post, but most of the week. I needed to change this, because my blog shouldn't focus on only one musical genre. That'd be very boring.
So, today, it's mostly indie pop or indie folk that I could find in my iTunes library, except for Bromheads Jacket and yes, I couldn't resist, The Strokes. It's my good-bye post, so The Strokes are necessary. Sort of.

So, now I'm finally spending my time on some good music that all those lovely bands had sent to me in the past days and weeks. I'm so sorry for those bands who'd sent me their stuff a while ago, but I couldn't get earlier to it. So, I hope, I don't miss out anything. Besides, I really appreciate it getting those mails, so don't hesitate, if you got something worth posting!

Let's start with German Rework, who sent me some promo mp3s a while ago(I'm sorry). Their LP Pleasure Is Pretty came out on October, the 5th via Pavlek Records/Hausmusik. They're a bit similar to New Young Pony Club, which is a very good thing, you can be sure. Besides, they're from Germany!!! If you haven't noticed already, this sure is a hell of a good thing, because Germany is mostly lacking some really awesome music. Well, not anymore. I actually come to think, that it's better to introduce you to Rework after the album came out, because now you can head straight to amazon to buy the LP, before you forget about it!!

Next on my list are Lismore, a really cool electronica band. They have a new EP out called All That You Are via Cult Hero Records. They're a similar to Junior Boys or The Tough Alliance (which I both posted here and here), even though another NYPC essemblance comes up. Last.fm calls them indietronica. I can live with that.
Via this link you can watch the video for their new song Paradis and I highly recomment listen to the remix of Grand National's By The Time I Get Home, There Won't Be Much Of A Place For Me. Long title, niiice remix. Of course, you should listen to the other songs of Lismore aswell. Pffsh.

Alright, coming up is melodic indie-folk House Of Brothers, meaning Andrew Jackson, who is behind this amazing project. House Of Brothers will release his debut EP Deadman on November, the 26th via Big Scary Monsters Records. Drowned In Sound describes them as: Sparkling indie-folk in style, as magical as anything the much-acclaimed Fionn Regan has recently released to the world. It's serene, stunningly so, and quite wonderfully arresting.
I mean, Fionn Regan!! If that isn't a cool musician to be compared with. At Least, that's what I think.

So, on it goes with a fantastic mail that I received from George from Exploding Art, consisting of two marvellous artists, Friendly Fires and Wax Stag, who are both on the People In The Sky Label. So, First, Friendly Fires have a new Remix EP, which is already out since last Monday via the label I just mentioned. The UK-based electro-funk-indie band are even described as NYPC's new favourite band. NYPC all over my post, weird isn't it? No, it's F'ing awesome.

No, apparently I haven't, but I'm doing so now:

Alright, one big Yessss!!! for me! I think that's cool, being aware of the fact that I had the possibilities to see them twice in the past year and missed them..twice. Not this time!
Anyway, I kept my promise in posting mix n°2 tonight, which would make two posts in one day. Cool. I could get used to that.
I have to make as many posts as possible before Saturday, because then I'll be moving and I don't have a plan yet for getting internet access. Damnit.
Anyway, this time, the mix is a bit different, we have electropop Temposhark, electro-indie The Rapture and new wave Shy Child, starting the mix quite dancy, but with New Young Pony Club, it gets a little bit slower. Brabe is also part of Bootlickers, amongst Rene van Munster, of whom I told you about yesterday. Ratatat aswell as Junior Boys or GoodBooks are classic, in my mind anyway, and I couldn't help myself in bringing !!! in again. I think this time, the mix is more suited for a long car drive -well at least for 42 minutes, that's the mix's length - slowing the musical tempo down at the end.
I'm tired.
I'm gonna go to bed now.

whilst I'm waiting for my laundry to finally dry and ignoring the fact that I should be packing for my move on Saturday, I remembered something, not very significant in a New-album-out-and-you-should-buy-way, but important for me in a I-loved-this-album-once-and-you-should-too-way. A Perfect Circle's second record The Thirtheenth Step was released about three years ago in September, if I remember it right, and in my opinion one of the best prog/alternative albums out today. And yes, A Perfect Circle is just so so so much better than Tool.

I'm definetely running out of post titles and I just couldn't be bothered to name another post after my very fabulous inventions like oh dear, alright or damn right. So I settled for this aswell rather uncreative title as putting a song title(well at least half a song title) up.
Anyway, it's Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and, just like every other night could be, this calls for a mix night. I should actually make one night a week an official mix night, but this probably won't work out, due to possible oblivion or laziness. I'm just gonna promise, that I'll try to post a mix every week... I'll try anyway. So tonight, it's kinda a dance mix, but not concerning the music genres, it's more likely a mix you could put in your car (at least that's I'd do), jam to it or put in your stereo and listen to it before you're going out, somehow or instead of going out...no, you should probably go out anyway...you get my drift
I'd call this one a rather strange mix, I'm still kinda surprised by my own selection. It starts with indie rock Central Standard, making it's way through synth pop Le Sport and crazy new wave Datarock up to electronica and dance like Digitalism, Daft Punk or Dutch newcomer René van Munster (By the way, check out his band Bootlickers) and ending up with !!!, who are...well, something of it all. I shouldn't explain Hadouken!, I'm sure you've heard of them and if you didn't already know about The Sonic Boom Foundation or The Tough Alliance, you should start doing that now. All in all, everything's very dance-worthy.
I actually woud've loooooooved to put up Datarock's Fa Fa Fa, but am still a bit hesitant, because that would make my blog not very inventive. I mean Fa Fa Fa is everywhere. Damnit. I'll have to decline...and decided for Sex Me Up, which is super fine to me. And yes, I keep posting Digitalism, because they are simply awesome in, well, everything.
Anyway,I chose to put up two mixes, one today and the other one tomorrow evening. I hate putting up too many songs in one mix and I'll prefer to split it into two. Easily.

Only one more week, till my university starts and I pretty much enjoy my last free time, even though I don't think much will change then, due to my lack of enthusiasm concerning, well, ALL scholar matters. Right now I'm sitting at home, smoking one fag after another, trying to ignore the background noise of what's supposed to be the 'phenomenal' sophomore production of Ocean's Eleven, which is clearly overrated.
Anyway, there are more pleasant things to watch these days, such as the new Hives video for Tick Tick Boom, which has been around for a couple of days, but as usual, I'm taking it in a little later. Normally I don't take much stock in posting any kinds of videos and I'm very much sure that in my blogging 'history' I only did so once. I think it was one of Goose videos...

Yeah, it has been a hell of a week for me.
So what? Right now, I'm probably more than relieved- no wait, I'm jubilating!!! Why? First of all, I finally managed to register myself into my university, where I'll commence my studies in October. You see, I'm late, as usual. But owing to the fact that I'm one of those few cheeky bastards who are more than just brazenly lucky in.... well, everything, including winning university places where others have to apply the normal, bitter and sometimes unequably way. In addition, I accomplished to find an appartement, which is trully a massive achievement concerning my future hometown and it's housing shortage due to the colossal amount of students there. So, in less than three weeks, my embosomed laziness and sweet idleness will cease and I'll find myself again ignoring the piles of at least a dozen books that I have to read, all the work that should have been done already and not doing any of it. Which is to say, I'm not in the least concerned, I'm looking forward to it. I'm kinda easy-going in that way.
Anyway, I have recently noticed, that my rants about my poor life have diminished in this blog lately and not by reason of nothing's happening here - well,nothing really IS happening here, but that for f's sake i not the point! - but more because I totally forgot about it. I went through my older posts the other day and thought by myself, that has to start again. The idea of the indie dancefloor being just another music blog that merely talks about and reviews artists, well, alienates me. Kind of.
So, in the lack of anything to do, why not post some music. Because I'm in a hurry, because I'm lazy, because I have to research for my university, this won't be a long one.

Fink, Uk-based singer-songwriter has a new album coming up, called Distance & Time, which will be on sale here in Germany.. well, NOW - ............and in the Uk: on Monday.
Fink consists of songwriter Fin Greenall, being supported live by bassist Guy Whittaker and drummer Tim Thornton. Distance & Time is Fink's sophomore album, after having released his debut Biscuits For Breakfast in early 2006. Both records have been released on Ninja Tune and, here in Germany, on Rough Trade aswell.
So, how is Distance & Time? It's very folk, very lively and very melodic, kinda Bright Eyes-esque or Jens Lekman-like. It's the raining-on-sundays-and-I'm-feeling-alone- kinda thing - but it's actually good.
If you're into such things, don't waste anymore time and head straight forward to Ninja Tune, Amazon or Roughtrade!
