actually I should sleep now

because it's late, because I'm tired, because I've got lot's of stuff to do tomorrow, but I just don't, because I can't.
But contrary to doing long posts to bypass the nasty phase between sleeping and being awake, I just can't be bothered at 1 am in the night.
So, when I'm deprived of sleep, I often listen to The Kinks and even more often to my favourite song (Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman, which was released on 1979's Low Budget, aswell as on 2002's The Ultimate Collection, which you should own, if you don't have any original Kinks records.
So, on exactly 1.25 am, I'm not only listenin' to The Kinks, but also to The Sun, who do cover the former quite passable. The cover was featured on 2006's Sound of Superman, the soundtrack for the Superman Returns movie.

I have time for indie

Well, at least at the very moment now, because I finished my class an hour ago and am now sitting in the library with time to upload mp3s.
So, I decided for some indie music, classic, new and 'old' ones, compiling in another indie mix - I should do indie mixes more often... I can't promise that I'll do it, but it's worth a thought.
The Cribs, Albert Hammond Jr, Kings Of Convenience, The Elephants, The Go-Betweens can be considered as 'old', because I think I've (or the rest of blogger world) posted them all sometime ago...but I can't quite remember, except for The Cribs - haven't posted a Cribs track for atleast a month, it's about time - I should start tagging correctly. Well, the tracks are good anyway, otherwise I wouldn't repost the bands7tracks, pfsh.
The Who and The Kinks are classic, obviously. Then we got Museum and The Inconsolables, to whom I got via last.fm, and Elle Milano and The Video Nasties whom I found via myspace, but who've been around in bloggerland for some time.
Then my favourite bit(of the new ones of course, who could beat The Kinks, pffsh) The Checks (on the picture) who have a new record out/or coming out, depends which country you're residing in, called Hunting Whales, which sofar I've heard it, think it's pretty good. Check their myspace for further information.

So, let me tell you a bit of Help She Can't Swim. The four-pieced London-based band makes nice psych punk aaaand indie rock and to my own surprise I like it. Their fast-driven songs underlined with the singer's partly high pitched voice do hav a rather interesting sound. I wouldn't have expected it since I read a describtion about them which declared them as utterly angry punk rock and noisy. Well, they are noisy, but in a really good way. They have a new album coming out via fantastic plastic records called The Death Of Nightlife which must be out for about a week now. It's good, a more hardcore(and screamy) Bromhead's Jacket version, but still the distinctive rap-like vocal parts and the intruding but lovely accent. Please go and pursue their album either on their label or through amazon. I guess there's nothing left to add.
